Very likely for me to change Zach's 7 point lead to a 3 point lead after tonight. I play two of the historically worst teams in the league (Broadway and BDH), and Zach is up against one of the hottest teams in the last 7 games (IR).

Pittsburgh plays the two worst teams in the league (by miles) tonight and Saturday. Would be a good time for Sid and Letang to put up some serious points and help this Rocket team secure 1st overall (and also give Sid some breathing room over McDavid in the scoring race).
Hate gametime decisions...had to pull Kane out of my lineup as I wasn't sure he was going to play, but just as changes get locked out it appears he will. Hopefully the difference between Kane and Nyquist won't end up being a negative.
I still have Sid and Letang left. Duane will be done by 10:30. So it won't be entirely over. A couple quick Leafs goals would be ideal, especially if Rielly doesn't get any more of them.

Well, Nyquist over Kane is a net +0.5, it's a shame the rest of my team decided to take tonight off.
Blindsides 3.0 vs. Royal Oak Fearsome Beavers 2.5 Broadway 4.0 vs. asdfjkl; 3.5 Lethbridge Golden Seals 5.0 vs. Lost Cause 0.0 The Ales 1.5 vs. Tulane Flyers 0.5 Injured Reserve 7.5 vs. Toronto Rocket 5.0 KC Reserves 5.5 vs. Newmarket Hurricanes 8.5 Iowa Crop Dusters 1.0 vs. Whalers 3.0 BlackDevilHawks 0.0 vs. asdfjkl; 3.5
The Ales didn't dress a goalie, so the dumbest rule in the FCHL strikes again. (Costs Rich 2 goals but he somehow still wins and actually won the goalie battle... =/)
NMH to within 3 points of the league lead, 17-4 in their last 21
Biatch splits his DH, moves to within 5 points, has an 11 point division lead
Dusters are cold, 4 losses in a row, and 6 in 7 - hold a 6 point division lead
IR make a statement with a 7.5 in what is a potential first round matchup, a not-so-lopsided 1-8 matchup, potentially - also increase their hold on the final playoff spot, 7 ahead of the LC, 9 ahead of the ROFB
Ales win but maintain last place, LGS up by just 1

Couldn't disagree with you more. Respectively. :)
Its your responsibility to dress a goalie. If you mess up, you shouldn't be awarded with a default goalie
I'm just kind of curious why when someone missed a fwd/def lineup, we blame the poolie, and when they miss a GTD lineup, we blame the league.
I only hate it because of where goalies are placed in Yahoo. It's easy to forget to scroll down. I think if we had control of the layout of Yahoo (or our own software/website), I'd probably be on John's side. Ie, I'd set it up F F F F F F D D D D Util G Bn Bn Bn Bn... etc so it's all on one screen.
I think intent is pretty clear if the rest of the lineup is set, except for goalies. With goalies, it's just so straight forward to determine intent. We've hashed this out before, nobody has ever purposefully dressed no goalies, even though some keep arguing that they may want to (which you'd still be able to do all you want), just the default assumption would change from "you wanted to do something that nobody in the history of the league has done" to "oh, you only had one goalie set going, obviously you meant to dress them, no harm, no foul". :)
I don't think anyone is blaming the league Arp, I goofed up and didn't notice I didn't dress a goalie. The mistake is on me. Zachs point is the software is designed in a way that when someone like me actually set's their lines, it's possible to make a sloppy mistake. It's happened enough to attentive gms that you can see it's a predictable error that will continue to sometimes pop up.
Given no one has ever intentionally not dressed a goalie, it seems like a safe assumption to assume they meant to dress one. Again the mistake is the uset, but unlike with a fwd or d miss it is easy to infer what the user meant to do.
ok, fair enough. When I say blame the league, I mean the reaction to these two instances is interesting to me, and how they are portrayed.
Zach: For me, I dont think anyone in this league has ever looked at their lineup, and thought.....nope, Im not going to put in my starters at FWD+DEF, Im going to try and tank tonight. So, both instances of forgotten lineup starters, whether they be F/D or a GTD, are just mistakes by the owner, one is just a smaller one than the other.
I don't blame you Rich, I think a few times I have come very close myself, just fortunate catches at the end. My point just is, both instances are missed lineups IMO, and if you want to make a rule saying an active goalie is an auto start, well great, then just make it an active F/D/GTD is an auto start, and if there is more than 1 possibility, the one with higher PPG is the pick.
Or maybe you guys just disagree with my initial starting place, and you guys think that some league owners have in the past intentionally left off starters in an attempt to tank a game. Thats a diff argument.

I think that's a perfectly fine idea. Maybe you're right that both should be given the same treatment. Hard to really make an argument against it, except for the way the software is set up. Like I said before, if we designed our own lineup tool, I don't think I'd have any issues with it.
That said, on the topic of auto-populating lineups with the highest PPG player... that's basically what the AHL does, except you lose your OT player (not sure if you automatically lose ties, or only lose ties if the other team has a point from their OT player?).
My only concern is that something like that, unless there's a substantial penalty, could lead to certain owners become a bit complacent. Right now the penalty for missing a lineup is pretty harsh, in that you don't get to fill the lineup spots. Unless you're tanking, of course, in which case, well, I guess you're happy... =/. Hmm... there are pros and cons to both. My concern was that owners could get complacent knowing that their best lineup would be set for them anyways if they neglected it.

I don't know if people have missed full lineups on purpose. I'd hope not.
I think we've had occasions before where teams iced their less than optimal lineup, or perhaps kept an injured player in the lineup when they should have been taken out. Were these deliberate attempts to tank? The former, probably not, more likely manager's discretion. The latter, maybe, though could also be attributed to inattentiveness (ie setting your lineups a month in advance and not bothering to check/update them).
On the whole, I think if anyone has purposefully tanked a lineup, it's probably been minor, and very rare.
I would tank in this league and set less optimal lineups, buts it's -EV to do so because there are so many poor GMs in the league, so tanking would be difficult.

It's just as easy to put a goalie in as it is a skater. It's literally the first thing I check when going to put a lineup in. Do I have goalies? I don't see how a -2.5 pt position could be so easily forgotten that it needs a special rule.

Come on it's obviously easier to miss or else this wouldn't be the 10th plus time it's happened. No one has set a line-up but missed just one forward or defenceman before.
I have. Last week I think put Brodie in thinking he was playing...he wasn't. Other d men were. My bad, no
Biggie.
10+ times? Not even. Like 6-7 times maybe. And a couple were deemed mistakes/transactional glitches if I remember correctly. It happens less than 1% of the time.
