I'm flying out to Vancouver tonight Rich. Every year my dad takes me and my baby brother to Vancouver in March for a weekend for the World Rugby 7's. He's asian looking but he was born in South Africa, so we cheer for them (and Canada too, but they suck). He talks with a SA accent too, it's kind of funny. My dad is staying at his sister's who lives in Burnaby. My brother and I are getting a hotel though because we would rather have our own place for the weekend. It's in New Westminister. We might hit up the Hard Rock late Saturday night. Do they have craps? Come gamble with me!

I'm working on a trip to Vancouver/Seattle/Portland in the summer sometime. Unsure exactly when yet, but I'll let you know when I do.

The one in New West shut down because high schoolers were protesting it. I only know downtown. No. 5, Brandys and there is a new called something like the Granville Strip.

Rich, what's the hostel scene like out there? I've never stayed in a hostel, but seems I can just book my own private room/bathroom for much less than a regular hotel. Looking at one in Gastown. Sketchy or what?

Was hoping for the same for Duane, but he got an assist from Giroux.

The Sharks/Preds game is huge for me.

I decided to go with Sharks goalies, and I have Couture and Subban in the mix. If I could get out of here with a positive score, that would be big towards taking a 3-2 lead in the series.

Oh, and he has Josi for me to fade.

Gastown is booming, tons of great restaurants. It's on the edge of the hardcore drug scene, not really sure how the hostels would be. Could go either way.

Regardless of where you stay don't let yourself get talked into building a day around seeing the gas town clock.

Gastown clock is cool imo. Wife and I did the hop on hop off tour around the city for a day when we were there in September and it was pretty cool. I enjoyed gastown.
