Injured Reserve vs. Whalers Blindsides vs. Toronto Rocket Newmarket Hurricanes vs. Iowa Crop Dusters Lost Cause vs. Royal Oak Fearsome Beavers The Ales vs. BlackDevilHawks KC Reserves vs. Lethbridge Golden Seals Broadway vs. asdfjkl; Tulane Flyers vs. KC Reserves
I’ll update a table in the next game thread when I’m back in Toronto and have access to a real computer.
In the meantime...
Ales clinch last place
LGS, KCR, Rockets, BDH, Whalers, Lost Cause have all clinched.
All three divisions are still up for grabs, though LGS and KCR basically each only need one win.
Regular season prize is still up for grabs, but the Seals have a big 5 point lead. Magic number is 4.
Dusters (80), IR (79), Broadway (77), and asdfjkl; (75) all fighting for the last two playoff spots. ICD and IR not only have the points edge, but also a game in hand on the other two.
Was he ever really even highly touted? Don’t recall a peep about him having scoring potential until this year.
When I drafted him, I considered him at best a decent sleeper. His D+1 season he improved and people in Tampa were talking about him turning out to be a good prospect. He made the team his D+2 season and I thought I was selling pretty high on him, using him to get Stamkos and $$$. Never thought he'd become just as valuable as Arvidsson, with upside on top of that.
Only thing I could find which matched what I thought the rule was

What do you mean John? You end up dressing 11 skaters?
I think the end result from that would be you'd lose your highest scoring player (if you have 5 D, you'd lose your top D). If you catch it before a player plays his late game and you swap him out, then it's all good.
Don't think you can gain an advantage since you'd lose your highest score either way.
Injured Reserve 2.0* vs. Whalers 2.5 Blindsides -1.5 vs. Toronto Rocket 2.5 Newmarket Hurricanes 1.5 vs. Iowa Crop Dusters 2.5 Lost Cause 2.0 vs. Royal Oak Fearsome Beavers 1.5 The Ales -2.0 vs. BlackDevilHawks 2.5 KC Reserves 1.5 vs. Lethbridge Golden Seals 6.0 Broadway 3.5 vs. asdfjkl; 4.5 Tulane Flyers 0.5 vs. KC Reserves 1.5
*Dropping the IR's highest scoring forward (Wheeler) drops the final IR score down to a 0.5. I'm glad that didn't ultimately affect the win/loss result, we should get that rule onto the books for the next time it happens.
Dusters win takes them to 82 points over Broadway and asdfjkl;'s 77 with three to play. One win for the Dusters in the last three games secures the playoffs. Realistically, three teams within two points of each other are fighting for the #8 spot, but the IR has game in hand (doubleheader on 2/24) over the chasers, both of whom have played their final doubleheader already.
All other playoff positions remain the same as every team that has already clinched gained two points last night.
Since me, John, and Duane all have no ties. The tie breaker probably won't be wins if we are tied.
Next thing is head to head. Does anybody know who is winning or losing these? I have no idea how to check quickly.
asdfjkl; vs Injured Reserve (5 games) -- Advantage Injured Reserve with a 4-1 season series victory
(October 9th (IR), November 2nd (IR), December 1st (IR), December 31st (A), February 3rd (IR))
asdfjkl; vs Broadway (7 games) -- Advantage asdfjkl; with a 4-3 season series victory locked up last night.
(October 26th (B), November 24th (B), December 7th (A), December 23rd (B), January 2nd (A), January 23rd (A), February 20th (A) )
Broadway vs Injured Reserve (5 games) -- Advantage Injured Reserve with a 3-1-1 season series victory.
(October 5th (B), November 7th (T), December 5th (IR), January 4th (IR), February 8th (IR))
I don't know where you're getting that none of the three of you have ties. You and John each have one and Duane has three on the season...one of them against John.

I think we should just drop whichever player is dressed in the 7th forward spot on Yahoo, the one that never gets used unless you are putting a D man in as your OT player.

I agree

Doesn't matter to me, we just need to find a consensus and document it. Your solution makes more sense as a non-punitive option.
Late to the party. I definitely remember we would drop the highest scoring forward as a penalty.
If we just took away the blank spot in Yahoo, this wouldn't happen. Just allow 5F, 4D, 1U and if on the very rare occasion you want a D as your OT player, you can post it in the game day thread and it's binding?

I feel like I argued against removing the extra F spot before, but for the life of me, I can't figure out why. Hopefully we'll remember before setting up the league next year. Lol.

You probably argued because that’s the way the NHL does it.

What do you mean? I should be able to change the positions/lineups before we enter the draft in the off-season.
I think it wouldn't allow us to take away the extra point for goalies pitching a shutout...scores would be so much faster and easier to do if not for that.
There’s gotta be a way around that too. But I keep hitting roadblocks.
Like, surely there’s a way to make it -0.5 for a goal against. We’ll need at least 4 goalie spots, and owners would need to make sure they keep the right starter and backup in the lineup (would need to add/drop as backups rotate, injuries happen, etc). That’s a tiny bit of extra work, but not a huge deal.
Where I hit a roadblock is empty net goals. They wouldn’t be counted as goals against goalies.
