This seems like the most relevant thread about playoff scoring changes and how they need to be caught before the next game starts. There was a lot of discussion about it, and no firm ruling...but there was a determination which seems like precedent to me. Dan initially won a Game 4 to stay alive, but Dubey caught a scoring change and announced it before Game 5 started. After some discussion and opinions all around, Dan did the right thing and declared the game a loss for him (classy move, IMO). If it hadn't been caught before Game 5 started, it would have been washed out, or at least that's the ruling I would go with.

I don't know if we need a voting thread in the rules forum or if we can just have a commish ruling on this, but it should definitely go into the rule book one way or the other.

I’m 90% sure there is a precedent for it being before the series is over, not the next game. I’ll try to find it. Though before the next game starts is probably a better rule.

edit: nevermind. That was the game I was thinking of. Didn’t realize it was game 4 and caught before game 5 started.

Interesting. We really need a more organized commish that collects all these random rulings that have to come up so we can build some precedent archive. I’ll try to think of a way to do that.
