Steve has a slight edge here, he basically has his default lineup. If he wins he is in a good position because he has a significant edge in games 5 and 6.
Well, the solution is simple if the NHL season is suspended... just wait until they go back to playing games... I guess? I dunno, but at least we'll have time to figure it out.
I'm trying to study for my professional exam this week, so haven't had time to be proactive, but I would hope that you guys trust me to make the right call if a decision is needed (considering I'm well out of the playoffs and nothing will impact my team).
im thinking there may be a whole new schedule, and we will have to just deal with it.
or even worse, they actually cut the season short and we dont have enough games for a final.
you dont want it to mess up our game here, but at the end of the day, its all bigger than our little game of fantasy
ill live with whatever we decide. Hopefully its just a suspension of 15 days or so, and then everything starts right back up again, same type of schedule. Best case scenario that prob wont happen, but I can be hopeful

I think we need to consider a plan if games get rescheduled. What if 2 games on a 7 day night get rescheduled for a day in the finals?
If the season is just paused, then I think the obvious move is for Zach to analyze the schedule once an updated one is released and set the remaining playoff game schedule accordingly. I doubt very much only a few games will be impacted, it’ll be all or nothing...most likely a significant pause in the schedule to start with.
If it's like the entire season, I would run the playoffs in the first 13 game nights of next season then jump into a new season with rosters we formed in the summer (you could still have the auction and sign guys, etc, I guess? Their tier would depend on where they stood when the season was cancelled. Not unfair.
Some wrinkles to work out if that were the case... would it kind of balance out where some portion of players retired or something vs new players being available via farm callups? I.e. say someone on your farm isn't playing this season, but happens to be in the NHL when the remainder of the playoffs are played, is it fair to allow that call up, if desired? (To me it kind of balances out if I had like a Patrick Marleau or something who retires in the "off-season".)
Also, to be clear, I'd use the rosters as they are now, and kind of keep a duplicate roster for everyone with new signings, drops, auction pick ups, etc. Once the playoffs end, the season is rolled forward and the new rosters come into effect.
We can worry about it more as it happens. If they don't cancel things before the games tomorrow, I'm immensely interested in watching the Pens/Jackets in an empty arena.
Love the idea of doing the playoffs at the start of next season. It would take some work, but could we run the start of next season at the same time as the playoffs from this season so we don’t have a shortened season? Basically 2 concurrent leagues.

No reason not to have playoffs and regular season at the same time. We would need to add another Yahoo league. That is work but we should be able to do it

Nah, we could easily just do paper lineups on the forum. Scoring would be mildly annoying but it's only for a couple weeks.

I would think Yahoo scoring would be so much easier than manually doing it but that's just me. Like the work to setup someones roster isn't much more work than figuring out their scores for the night.
Actually we could just keep the current Yahoo league as is (well change the URL) and then, in addition to renewing it, create a new league using the old URL. boom.
I would suggest keep the current Yahoo for 19/20 season and create a new Yahoo for the 20/21 My guess is Zach would know best though since he does the bulk of the Yahoo pre season work

Are we that against a shortened 20-21 season?
Im easy, but I feel like it might be less of a load for all of us just to be dealing with 1 set of games at a time?
just talking, dont care either way, I know we have a smart and fair group that will come up with a great answer. Again, #FCHL4LIFE

It doesn't matter to me but I don't expect to be competitive next season either. Generally I fall in favor of more games and definitely no byes.
I will literally do the scoring by hand for the remaining 2 rounds. Just post lineups on game threads like we already do. Unless I’m dead by then. Then you can decide what to do then I won’t give a fck.
My guess they might, if the season resumes soon, is that they play a shorted season (like 4-7 games) to even out the teams and act as a preseason. THen head into the playoffs.
There's talk that the league wants to resume and finish the regular season at some point and has asked all teams to work out logistics with their respective buildings so the playoffs can extend into July. I don't see how that would work with so many player contracts expiring on July 1st, but I guess that's for them to figure out.

Well we only need 13 game nights for 19/20, right? We'd basically just lose one cycle (15 game nights, 16 games) if we didn't do them concurrently.
