It's weird not having a Saturday game this week.

oh boy, Whalers - Rockets is always a fun matchup. Guessing I'm a huge dog here. Letang being out destroys my already mediocre defense.

Could the hockey gods be on my side tonight?

Of only the goals that I'm aware of, Matt Dumba and Taylor Hall have both had goals overturned on challenges. Keeping me closer than I should be.

He’s pretty good this year. Looks great. Lucky to be on the first line, but he stands out every game I see.

I picked him up in the AHL last year and overjoyed by his play this year.

Three missed lineups in a row for Mike.

Has anybody been able to reach him outside of the FCHL boards? He, ever so helpfully, has me blocked from every other means of contact.

Mike commented on one of my fb posts. I told him he missed 3 lineups and it's getting to be a bit detrimental to the league but thanks for the easy win on Friday. His response

"Beeen working 18 hour days toward closing on the office yesterday. Got sick today. The league will survive."

Take that as you will...

I like Mike as a person, I really do...but his attitude towards this league does not line up with the other 14 of us by a country mile. It seems clear to me that it's no more important to him than a random Yahoo rotisserie league that he's presently 14th out of 15th in. And that's fine, for him, but that's not the kind of league we're running. 14/15 of us literally put icing our lineups and improving our teams ahead of nearly everything else in our lives (mostly because doing so takes far less than a half hour per day) so the glaring contrast in his attitude stands out like an injured phalange.

I have a hard time envisioning a future where this doesn’t end with us moving on from Mike. It’s just a matter of how much longer do we want to drag it out. That’s up to the league as a whole.

Maybe 3-4 years? In the mean time, Zach should set the lineups to help integrity for the league.

I agree with Adam. Mike obviously has a lot going on, but if he wants us to help him out he can't also block the commissioner from any means of communicating with him. Zach is a really hands on dedicated commissioner. How much can we expect Zach to chase someone down?

Also, we focus a lot on lineups but there is also the matter of roster management etc. I remember him being heavily engaged in season 1 and a random season where it seems like he was contending, but he has a lot of stretches where he doesn't log in or make any moves for months. I'm not sure if we view this as an issue or not, I'm just pointing out that this isn't like a heavily engaged owner is all of a sudden disengaged. He's always been the least active by a mile.

I do sympathize with everything he has going on in his personal life, not trying to come across as harsh or unfeeling by any means. At the same time, who doesn't have five minutes sitting on the can with their phone to set lineups for the week and stay within at least the barest minimum of participation? I'm not going to pile on anymore.

I feel genuinely bad for the things he is going through, but it feels like the time has come for us to make a firm decision.
This league is not a priority for him in any way these days, and thats understandable. But even in past years, as Rich pointed out, I had the sense it wasn't really that important to him, so why keep going with this. Lets make the call, now or later, but make the call. Secret vote, whatever, I dont know.

Whats the drawback to 14? I kind of like 14, unless im missing something. Uneven divisions?

Contraction would be interesting. Not that Mike has a particularly talented roster, but the auction would be impacted in an interesting way.

I’d be fine with whatever, 14 or 15, but my ultimate goal would be 16 when the nhl hits 32 teams. Probably with realignment to divisions of 8/8?

Farm and traded away picks also makes contraction a bit messy.

Make farm players available at auction next year.  Draft picks can just be skipped?  If they've been traded then they are still valid.

Still valid, but we won’t know where to rank them after this year. Looks like there’s only one pick that he has traded though.

I changed my mind. I think I’d much rather keep the league at 15 teams. 16 immediately when the NHL adds Seattle or whoever.

I'd vote for 15. We are thinking of ousting a GM to make the league run smoother And less hiccups Why Change it up to throw more monkey wrenches into the pile? We know how to deal with 15. Keep it at 15.

I would rather 14. No doubleheaders, stronger rosters, quicker auctions.

 Agree 100%.

I would also agree to taking one for the team, and eliminating myself for the better of the league so we can have 14.

If that option is on the table, I would prefer an even 13 teams.

No really, someone has to have a friend who wants into the league. I don’t have friends but surely someone does.

I believe an AHL guy is the front runner for an open spot already. It's just an issue of adding one or not I guess
