My one rule in most countries if you are travelling alone or in a small group is do not get that liquored up. Fun Vegas drunk doesn't translate well in a country where you don't speak the language and can't easily take the temperature of the room.

I guess we'll see what kind of effect the cachaca has on me. I will definitely be testing out the national drink, the caipirinha.

The lime and sugar mask it pretty well but it's [Cachaca] basically vodka made from sugar cane; though surprisingly not all that sweet. There's a bit of a funk to it but it's pretty minor.
