This is a pretty epic matchup. Both teams evenly matched. The top two seeds. 104 points each in the regular season.

The first time since 2018 that the (1) and (2) seeds have met in the finals, where the Rockets beat the #1 Seals 4-1. With the Seals the #2 seed this time around, could a similar finish be in order? Uh, it also happened the year before (I didn't think it would have happened this many times!) and the #1 seed (Rockets!) beat the #2 seed, also 4-1. I guess anything can happen. But I think I speak for all of us that we don't want to see another 5-game series. (LGS beat MDG in 4 straight in another #1 vs #2 match up in 2011. It also happened in the fake inaugural/trial season where the Whalers/Tulanes played and I think the Whalers won. Lots of random history here.

Good luck, gents.

Whalers Tulane wasn't the trial season, Whalers were the first champ!

Some real tough choices for the Whalers with their OT slot.

Are you working on a rough draft of his HOF speech?

Oh ****! Sorry Arp. I couldn’t believe Mike would have made it, AND I only have scores for the first 5 games (and it wasn’t finished) somehow so just figured it was the trial.

Mike sold his soul and every future he had to make that final, I remember some of the deals he made back then and they were insane. His team was crippled for years after.

I watched the whole game, he was damn good out there. Skated over 9 minutes against Matthews, and was ten seconds shy of 20 minutes overall. Never once looked out of place and showed a lot of the "take the game over" ability he demonstrated at Michigan. No one player is "the answer" but Buffalo has been one of the best teams in the league the past couple months, and we're adding Power, Jack Quinn and JJ Peterka to this lineup next season. Should be fun.

Nice of Marner and Matthews to get their first combined pointless game in forever out of the way before the finals kick off. Leafs play on all 7 finals game nights.

Good luck Arp! I want Matthews to score an absurd number of goals to close off the season but I also want to win this series. Your team is.. frightening. I hope its a good series.

I know the Leafs play terrible against Buffalo in general, but I thought the Sabres looked good last night. They do a good job of staying active defensively and getting sticks in passing lanes and were consistently disrupting the Leafs puck movement in the offensive zone, which very few teams were able to do effectively against the Leafs this year at all.

Its a few more nights of Matthews on the Whalers before he's finally done and leaving for greener pastures, so I hope he goes out with a bang and a Championship.

I think we have equally scary, stacked teams, and its just going to come down to the right schedule and the right amount of timing+luck. I loaded up for these nights, hope it works.

Good luck Dave! Hope its a fun sweat for both of us, I'm not against a game 7 nailbiter!
